Appearance Medicine Workshop for doctors interested in developing a satisfying and financially rewarding practice in non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Appearance (Cosmetic) Medicine is a new and evolving speciality.

Our experienced doctors will be teaching a limited number of delegates a variety of procedures. The course is an intense 3-day theoretical and practical workshop aimed to give medical practitioners the opportunity to develop a successful practice in the field of Appearance/ Cosmetic medicine.

Programme

  • Day 1

    Overview of Appearance Medicine

    Latest Trends and growth areas, why you should be getting involved now. Goals to be achieved by end of workshop. The Client, consultation and consent will be discussed with each modality.

    Botulinum Toxin A:

    Theory and Practical Experience under supervision. Basic & Advanced, indications, complications, dilution and administration techniques for safety and best results.

    Discussion: Treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis, migraine and botulinum face lifting.

    Chemical Peels: Overview of Skin

    Pigmentation problems, melasma, solar lentignes

    Light or freshening peels and medium depth peels with the use of AHA (glycolic Acid) and trichloroacetic acid (TCA).

    Procedural techniques for glycolic and TCA spot and face peels. Practical demonstration.

    The place of microdermabrasion in a cosmetic practice.

    Cosmetic Radio-Surgery:

    Theory / workshop

     

    The modern technology of shave excision using microwave loops without bleeding for skin tags, benign moles, seborrhoeic warts, solar keratosis and the cautery of spider naevi and facial veins.

  • Day 2

    Dermal Fillers:

    Collagens (Bovine and Human), Hyaluronic Acid gels and permanent fillers.

    An overview of available products, different levels of placements for different products. More particular knowledge and emphasis will be given on the commonly used products

    How to promote dermal fillers.

    Adverse effects and how to deal with them.

    Best techniques for enhancement of wrinkles, contour deficits, acne scars and lip enhancements, Paris lip and shaping. Injection rhinoplasty.

    Hands on demonstrations and workshop will allow for all attendees to grasp all techniques and perform dermal filling confidently.

  • Day 3

    Lasers and IPL (over-view):

    Theory of laser light and selective photo-thermolysis and how they are used in dermatological lasers.

    Hair removal

    Pigmentation removal

    Vein removal

    Photo-rejuvenation.

    The consultations, the consent procedure, treatment protocols.

    Complications and how to deal with them.

    Registration with health care commission, medico legal aspects.

    If I were to buy just one machine, what would I buy?

    Which laser? Which IPL? Cost risk analysis.

    Acne: Offering a combination of microdermabrasion and light treatments.

    Lipodissolve: Practical demonstration & theory.

    Introduction to Micro-Sclerotherapy:

    Thread veins and facial veins. Discussion on varicose and reticular veins.

    Assessments, investigation, consent.

    Pharmacology of sclerosants, technique of foaming.

    Complications and how to deal with them.

    Overview of procedures performed

    Building a practice combining different techniques.

    Documentation, information sheets, consent forms etc.

    Advertising and marketing.

Morning, afternoon teas and lunch will be provided. A manual will be provided. Print outs of power point presentations will be available. There will be time made available for discussion daily.
